Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu Student Testimonials
I've attended the academy of Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu for nearly 6 years now, achieving my youth black belt and adult purple. When I first heard about the academy, I was only 10 years old and didn't know anything about the benefits this curriculum had to offer. When I did join though, it prove to be the biggest pivotal point in my life. Under the instruction of Soke-Dai Marc Bachner, Sensei Brian Baccaire and other instructors, acquaintances and friends, I soon became assured that I could defend myself on the street if I ever needed to do so; but knowing how to physically defend myself in an altercation isn't the only thing i've learned from my time at the dojo. I learned self discipline, the value of how things that seem so small make such a big effect, the value of teamwork, the importance of individual study, and much more. I've gained lifelong friends and mentors, but most importantly, I learned how to keep my friends and myself out of harms's way. Sticking with the academy and working 110% all the time has been arguable the best decision I have ever made, and will be one I will continue to make. All in all, Kuntao has taught me to grow, and has taught me lessons and values I won't soon forget.

As a former personal trainer and a physical education teacher, I am continually impressed with the level of professionalism and dedication which the KJJ shows on a daily basis. The sessions are not only inspiring physically, but they are confidence-building workouts which always leave me motivated for the next class. The structured and safe atmosphere creates the optimal learning environment for students of all ages and walks of life. Finally, the instructors are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also approachable and welcoming. This is the ideal location for learning martial arts and I have recommended it to my family and friends, and students.

Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu has changed my life, it will change yours too! When I joined Kuntao 7 months ago I didn't know what to expect. Here is what to expect a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, great teachers and students who will help you when you need it. Also, a great art that will boost your confidence and possibly save your life. If that isn't enouh, it is a great workout, better than a gym in my opinion. Not only is it not the same routine you get easily bored with, but in 7 months at kuntao I have lost over 50lbs and 4 pants sizes. There are so many more reasons to join Kuntao but they have a free class come out and see what they can do for you.

When I first started looking for a place for my son to learn martial arts I had no clue what to look for. The only thing I did know is the style I wanted him to try. I did a search on the internet and came across Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu and I am glad we did. After one class my son was excited to come back and continue to train. This was a big deal because he had never been interested in any sports he had try thus far. I even signed up after watching one of his classes, the people and the environment speaks for itself. One class and you will see that this is not just a place to learn martial arts but a place that also feels like a family, who all love to train just as you do/will. There are so many good things to say about Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu and I don't think you will find a person out there that has tried a class that will disagree. Since starting my daughter has now joined and to see both children continue to grow and become more confident in there abilities is a beautiful thing to see.
Sincerely,

When I began my search for a Martial Arts School, I used my knowledge as a Physical Education Teacher to find an excellent school for my son and I. After going in and observing and talking with students, I was impressed with the following things:
- 1. The instructors were able to break down the skills verbally and physically for the students.
- 2. The instructors were able to work well with all students, regardless of their skill level, age, or sex.
- 3. All students were treated the same, regardless of their belt rank.
- 4. A written curriculum is provided for each belt level, so the students know what is expected of them.
- 5. All instructors are highly educated, and teach Self Defense because it is their passion, not their livelihood.
As a P.E. Teacher I knew that these five traits were crucial for student success.
In terms of Kuntao Jiu Jitsu , if you are looking for a system that teaches you how to defend yourself on the street, this is the system for you.
The skills you learn will teach you how to end an altercation quickly and with confidence, regardless of how big your adversary is. The training also stresses what to do if you are standing up or on the ground during an attack, which makes it a well rounded system. If you are looking for a good workout as well, this system will provide it, I have seen classmates lose weight as a result of it.
Because of the instructors, curriculum, and skills taught, I can honestly say that this is a complete Martial Arts System, my son and I have been extremly pleased with it, over the last two years.

“I’ve been training in the martial arts since I was Eight Years Old. In 2008, I earned Shodan rank in the Kensho Ryu system. I also have trained in other styles such as Shaolin Kung fu, Shukokai karate, and Muay Thai. I’ve been to various schools and by far Kuntao Jiu Jitsu has surpassed my expectations. When I walked in for the first time, I can remember watching the kid’s class and being impressed with how they moved. You can always tell that you are at a great school with incredible instructors by the skill of the students. KJJ welcomes everyone with open arms and egos are left at the front door. KJJ has given me skills that I did not possess before and has restored my confidence. I started at KJJ in the middle of January 2011 and I have since lost 32lbs and continue to lose more. This school is top notch. If you are a beginner and deciding which school to attend or if you are highly trained in another art and looking to enhance your skills, Kuntao Jiu Jitsu will meet and exceed your expectations. I am honored and proud to say I am a KJJ student.”
Kind regards,

I joined Kuntao Jiu Jitsu about a month ago and I have been very happy with my decision to join. I was initially hesitant to join because I had no prior martial arts experience and at my age, 37, I thought I may be too old to get started. I have found the instructors to be very patient and they take the time to explain things thoroughly.
I have a one year old daughter at home and I believe that Kuntao Jiu Jitsu will teach me the necessary tools that I may need to avoid an altercation either alone or, if needed, to protect my family. I would recommend this system to anyone who is interested in learning the essentials in self defense and would like to get a good cardio workout in at the same time.

The art of Kuntao Jiu Jitsu is unique, in the sense that it incorporates the best techniques from an array of systems. This allows you to choose the best possible option in any given altercation. I did quite a bit of research before deciding to invest my time in the Kuntao academy. It was not much of a decision once I met with Soke-Dai Bochner, and attended a preview class at the dojo.
I was immediately welcomed to participate in the class. The first thing I noticed was the loose, relaxed atmosphere. At the time I was in a room full of more advanced students and was very pleased at the way they graciously offered to help me. I absolutely love it here. I have never in my lifetime been witness to a system that has a more balanced approach to the idea of self defense. I find the system to be, without question, the most practical approach to surviving a life threatening altercation.
What makes it even better, is that it does not limit you. The system is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills to deal with the situation at the necessary level to ensure your own safety. I found many other systems that would teach you effective striking techniques, and I am sure they were effective, but at the end of the day all I know how to do is beat someone into submission. I was looking for something more, as not every situation requires that reaction.
With Kuntao Jiu Jitsu we are taught many techniques, such as joint manipulations, weapons defenses, grappling techniques, all in addition to a solid base of striking. That was the most important aspect of self defense to me. I only want to take the altercation as far as it has to go, now I am comfortable in knowing that I can gain control of a situation without inflicting any unnecessary damage to somebody.
I also find it important to mention to anyone interested in training for self defense of any kind. Know your system! The most important factor in choosing a style is to know what you want to get out of it. There is nothing more dangerous, in my opinion, than a false sense of confidence. Mostly due to the fact, that if you believe you are capable of handling a life threatening altercation, you may not be as likely to just run. I chose this system because I have a family now, and I wanted to know that if anything were to ever happen, I would be able to confidently and competently defend them from any danger. You will not be entering any competition with this style.
This system works! Regardless of size or strength, you can make it work for you. It is a wonderful style for children as well. There is great relationship between all members of the dojo, children and adults alike. Also they will be learning valuable strategies on how to avoid conflict altogether, and how to defend against abduction as well. All things considered, I could not be more pleased with my experience here. It is everything I was looking for and more. I can honestly say that I have never had a more fulfilling hobby, and I consider everyone here to be like a second family. I would recommend this system to anyone, but It speaks for itself. In closing, I would just like to say anyone looking into pursuing martial arts training, at any level, you would be doing yourself a great disservice if you did not at least come see what the system has to offer before making a decision.

By immersing myself in the art of Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu over the past year, I've challenged my body, mind, and spirit to be the best it can be. I have improved my ability to defend myself in potentially life threatening/dangerous altercations. Moreover, I have found that I approach other activities and responsibilities with a greater amount of awareness, excitement, and calm.
The instructors and students are young. The environment is very welcoming and relaxed, while keeping focus. Adult classes are offered at convenient times and there is no pressure to attend all classes, you have tremendous flexibility. Most importantly, there is a consistent underlying theme of trying to diffuse a situation first peacefully, and if that is not possible then acting accordingly. Essentially it is not a "Fight Club" looking to crank out a bunch of brainless warriors.
Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu, simply put, is fun. The academy provides a chance to challenge yourself, learn, socialize, and see tangible benefits all at the same time. As a member, I can say with complete confidence that I would recommend Kuntao Jiu-Jitsu to any of my friends, family and business colleagues.

Kuntao Jiu Jitsu has been a great experience for me. I had never taken martial arts before so I was a little hesitant when I first signed up. However, the instructors and students are very welcoming. The environment at the dojo is energetic, and everyone has an enthusiasm to learn and share their knowledge. No matter what your experience level, the instructors take the time to make sure you learn the movements correctly. My short time at the dojo has been great for me, and I look forward to continuing my experience in Kuntao Jiu Jitsu.
